Steps To Successful Soulwinning: Acts Series #17

August 4, 2021

A sales manager was trying to lift up the vision of some of his sales force. He went into the meeting and he took a piece of white poster board that had one black spot in the middle. He looked at everyone and said, “Let’s have a little creativity.” He asked the first person, What do you see there? He said, “Well, a black dot.” He asked another person, “What do you see?” She said, “A dot.” Everyone answered the same way. And he said, “Isn’t it strange that all of you saw the black dot, but none of you saw the white all around it.” I think so many of us see the black dot of self-concern when the Savior said, “Lift up your eyes and look upon the fields, they are white already unto harvest.” God has a plan for you and He wants you to get your eyes off of self and onto others. I pray God uses this message to help you to do this. I don’t want to hurt your feelings, but I want to remind you of an important truth. I want you to know no matter how faithfully you attend, no matter how…

Overcoming Growing Pains: Acts Series #12

June 29, 2021

There are always pessimists, who see a difficulty in every opportunity. Yet, a Bible Christian sees an opportunity in every difficulty. Every difficulty that came to the early Church was used of God as a springboard, just to cause them to grow all the more for the Lord Jesus Christ. In Acts 6:1-7, we read, “And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: Whom they set before the apostles: and…

The Priorities Of The 21st Century Normal Church: Acts Series #10

June 15, 2021

On the Day of Pentecost, three major things happened. First, there was the sending of the Spirit. The Spirit of the Lord came into the house of the meeting and into the hearts of members. The promised had been possessed! Second, there was the sermonizing of the saint. Peter was changed. At one time, Peter denied Christ; but now he defended Christ. His sermon preached Jesus to the Jews and propagated the Gospel to the Gentiles. The preacher was powerful! Third, there was the saving of the sinners. The Church became a crusade. It evangelized sinners and edified the saints. Three thousand people were saved on the Day of Pentecost. What a day that must have been! The people were pardoned! As days transpired, the infant church became an invincible church. It preached the Scriptures with power and ministered to the sick with miracles. Our text gives us a biblical backdrop of what we should practice and preach today. We must stand on the Scriptures and be sold out to the Savior. I would like to suggest that there are ten qualities or priorities of the 21st Century normal church. These priorities are often forgotten or neglected; but, they are…

God’s Date At The Beautiful Gate : Acts Series #5

May 11, 2021

Dear Visionary Leader: The world is not impressed with our lameness, tameness, and sameness. They desire and deserve to see the Church perform what it proclaims. There was a story about a man who caught a glimpse of the need for a spiritual awakening in our churches. He first drove to Last Assembly by the gas station. In this church, you will find vacant-eyed guild gathers. These people really do a lot for a pastor or an evangelist. They come expecting something. They expect to get out by noon. Next, the man decided that this must be an exception, so he went over to the Church of Immaculate Perception. In this church, you will find crossed-leg fingernail observers. This will blow the mind of a minister because these are usually very perceptive people. They will be counting the number of tiles on the floor or the ceiling. Then, the man decided to try another church. He drove to Saint Anesthesia. He discovers a number of sleepy-headed elbow learners. After 15 to 20 minutes into the service, these individuals were already into the 2nd or 3rd stage of anesthesia. However, once again, with hope, the man decided that all of these must have…

Why is Good Friday Good?

April 2, 2021

More than two thousand years ago, Mankind nailed his Maker on a cross of wood. On that horrific day, the devil laughed, the people sneered and the Father turned His back on his Son. Jesus Christ did not die and rise again for a percentage of the world, but for the whole world. While Jesus was dying on the cross, there were many miracles that happened to demonstrate Why Good Friday is Good. Easter is God’s grace for the human race. As we approach Good Friday, consider Why Good Friday is Good. According to Matthew 27:45-54, when Jesus died on the cross: He touched the sun. In Him, we have victory over darkness! Jesus said that He is the light of the world. Yet, He is the eternal light of heaven. If we choose not to allow Jesus into our hearts, our lives will be filled with darkness. The glorious light of the Gospel transforms untold numbers of people every year. He touched the sanctuary and the veil was rent in two. In Him, we have victory over division! This veilhad hung for more than 1,500 years between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies. Only the…

The Daybreak of Faith; Part 2

February 24, 2021

Dear Visionary Leader: Last week we began looking at the daybreak of faith I have no doubt that the Hebrew writer was thinking of Elijah, when he wrote, “Women received back their dead by resurrection.” One of the most colorful characters of the Old Testament is Elijah. God used him in a mighty way in a time when spirituality was at an all-time low in the land of Israel. James tells us this about Elijah. James 5:17-18 “Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.” Elijah was an ordinary man who knew how to get hold of the extraordinary God and answer prayers in his behalf. We Are Not To Become Indignant By Our Pain Because her eyes were not on the Lord, because her expectations were wrong, and because she felt guilty thinking maybe she was to blame in some way, her guilt and pain took the form of despair, anger or resentment, and then blame. She took…
