The Cutting Edge Story
Call
At the young age of fourteen, Dr. Davis accepted the Lord’s call of full-time ministry at an Assemblies of God Youth Camp. The Holy Spirit confirmed for him to serve as an Evangelist in the modern church. On August 19, 1979, he preached his first sermon at Evangel Temple, in Montgomery, Alabama. Since those early days, he has preached at least 10,000 sermons worldwide. When it comes to measuring success, Dr. Davis says, 1) Find God’s will; 2) Follow God’s will and 3) Finish God’s will.
Church
Dr. James O. Davis biblically believes the local church is the Lord’s method for evangelism and discipleship. He teaches that the establishment of the Kingdom of God takes place through the local church. Over the years, Dr. Davis has been invited to consider ministry that “goes around” the local church, but he has rejected each invitation. According to Ephesians 4, the Lord gave gifts (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers) to help the local church become mature in all aspects of ministry.
Community
Christian leaders have said, “James is the networker of networking in the Body of Christ.” As a result of ministering for 40 years worldwide, he understands the leadership principles necessary to build a strong networking in the local community.
Dr. Davis continues to teach from his classic book, How To Make Your Net Work in local churches and conferences. He carefully reveals how to birth, build, and broaden a local network for ministry effective and societal transformation. Just because you know how to “do teamwork” does not mean that you know how “to network.” You can have teamwork without building a network, but you cannot have a network without teamwork.
